What this is
QuickChirp is an invite-only, low-bandwidth event chat. It is designed to be simple and fast.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can request removal.
Information we collect
- Username (display name) — the nickname you choose for chat.
- Phone number — required to participate. It is not displayed publicly.
- IP address — recorded when you join and when messages are posted, to help detect abuse.
- Chat messages — messages you post in a room are stored and shown to other participants.
- Cookies / local identifiers — we store an essential cookie to keep you “signed in” on your device.
- Basic technical logs — standard server logs (e.g., request timestamps, error logs) for reliability and security.
How we use this information
- To operate the chat service (show your nickname and messages to other participants).
- To prevent spam, abuse, and misuse (rate-limiting, banning, investigation).
- To maintain service reliability, debug issues, and improve performance.
- To contact you only if you explicitly opt in to notifications (e.g., WhatsApp) in the future.
We do not sell personal information. We do not run advertising trackers.
Phone numbers
Phone numbers are collected to reduce abuse and to support future notification features.
They are not displayed in the chat. At this stage, we do not perform OTP verification,
so you should only enter a number you control.
Sharing and disclosure
Your chat messages and chosen username are visible to other participants in the same room.
We may disclose information (including IP logs) if required by law, or to protect users and the service
from harm, fraud, or abuse.
Retention
- Chat messages may be retained for operational and safety reasons.
- Abuse-related logs (e.g., IP address records) may be retained longer to protect users and the service.
We aim to keep only what we need. Retention periods may change as features evolve.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect stored data, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
Avoid sharing sensitive personal information in chat rooms.
Your choices
- You can stop using the service at any time.
- You can clear cookies for this site to remove the local “signed-in” identifier from your device.
- You can request deletion of your phone number association and/or messages (see contact below).
